WAHIEMO COUNTY COUNCIL

The monthly meeting of the Waihemo County Council was held in the council chambers, Palmerston, on Saturday and was attended by Crs Ross (chairman), O’Connell, O’Neill, Clark, M'Callum, Freeland, Miller. Ritchie The Clerk of the Waitati Licensing Committee forwarded certificates authorising the issue of publicans’ licenses to Elizabeth Stanley, Stanley’s Hotel, Macraes, and William Edwin Griffin, the United Kingdom Hotel Macraes. —Received. ‘ The Maniototo County Clerk wrote stating that the estimated cost of a bridge over the Shag River, the boundary between Maniototo and Waihemo, was '£soo.—Received. Advice was received from Wellington that a conference of the New Zealand Counties’ Association would be held in Wellington next month, the date to be fixed later. Received; Mr Macpherson, M.P., to represent the council at the conference. It was decided, on the motion of Or M’Oallum, that the council procure a grader and scoop. Accounts amounting to £31.389 were passed for payment. lhe Inspector reported that general surface work had been done throughout the various ridings and practically all the damage by the floods had been repaired.
