HEAVY MOTOR TRAFFIC.
LEGIST ATI ON FOR ESH ADOWE D. AUCKLAND, May 25. Replying lo a deputation of suburban bodies in regard to the damage done to roads by heavy commercial motors, the Prime Minister said he did not think it, possible to raise all the money required for main roads maintenance. At the present time N, w Zealand's credit was good in London; hut if we sought to borrow millions for this purpose, arid were found to he not getting good value for the money, our credit would drop to zero. Many county councils could do more than they were now doing. He said that there would be legislation limiting the weight of vehicles carried on certain roads, and an adjustment of (he revenue from the license fees of commercial and motor vehicles.
