SCOTTISH CONCERTS
The usual Scottish concerts conducted by tbe Piping and Dancing Association, during Winter Show Week, commence this year on the evening of Saturday next, June 2, in Ho Majesty’s Theatre, Dunedin, next door to the Winter Show buildings. Other concerts will be given on the following Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday evenings. The association is noted throughout Otago for the excellence of its Scottish concerts, and no effort or expense is being spared this year to make them surpass all previous ones. Miss Bessie Fraser, of Sydney, a noted Scottish prima donna, will make her first appearance in Dunedin next Saturday evening. The association is paying her a fee of £6O for these concerts. She received a fee cf 50 guineas recently from the Caledonian Society in Perth, IV.A., I'or one concert. Another noted singer, engaged at great expense, is Mr Arthur Macdonald, the premier baratone of Christchurch. Several other namely performers from outside of Dunedin have also been engaged. Rarely indeed is such a galaxy of talent ever found on the programme. The programmes, which are most varied, will appeal to all lovers of good mfisic and artistic performances, a.nd especially to all those who hail from north of the Tweed.
