MURDER OF M. VOROWSKY
RUSSIA’S ALLEGATION S.
LAUSANNE, May 20. The conference received a long telegram from M. Tchitcherin protesting violently against the exclusion of M. Vorowsky from the conference, and holding that the Powers were responsible for his murder, which, lie alleges, they did nothing to prevent. The delegates decided to refer the telegram to their Governments. The Swiss Federal Council received a similar telegram couched in strong lan guage. GENEVA, May 22. The Swiss Government replied in energetic terms to M. Tchitcherin‘s Note, which sought to make Switzerland responsible for M. Vorowsky’s murder, and expressed astonishment at the Soviet’s attitude. The reply declares that the Swiss Government would have preferred to receive some explanation of the unexampled treatment meted out to Swiss subjects in Russia.ABSENCE OF SPIRIT OF REVENGE. MOSCOW, May 21. Thousands of people, many carrying banners, attended M. Vorowsky’s funeral. Many battalions of Red troops escorted the coffin from the station, being followed by four waggons laden with flowers from all parts of the country. M. Kameneff and other leaders made speeches at the graveside, which were notable for tlieir absence of a spirit of vengeance. SWISS RESIDENTS ILL-TREATED. BERLIN, May 24. According to Moscow reports, the authorities at Petrograd, Moscow, and Kieff arrested several Swiss. Some Petrograd shops belonging to Swiss were stormed and wrecked bv a mob. At Odessa crowds attacked several Swiss in the streets. The Soviet is refusing to en dorse Swiss passports.
