RAILWAY ACCIDENTS
FIVE PERSONS KILLED. PARIS, May 22. There were two accidents at level crossings on Monday. A motor car at Amiens containing four people, disregarding the shouts of a party of boys perched on a railway bridge, attempted to cross the line in front of an express train, which crashed into it, sweeping the car along for 100 yards. All the occupants were killed. The second accident occurred at Nice during a cycling race. Rolfo, a crack cyclist, saw the level crossing gate about to close and sprinted and got through alone out of 30 competitors. While crossing the line the chain of his bicycle snapped, and Rolfo fell and was killed by the train. SIX KILLED, 30 INJURED. LISBON, May 21. Six people were killed and 30 injured in a train accident on the Funicular Railway at Braga, while descending a mountain.
