TEMPERANCE REFORM.

ANNUAL MEETING OF COUNCIL. There was a large attendance of delegates at the annual meeting of the United Temperance Reform Council which was he’d in the Octagon Social Hall on Tuesday evening, the president (Mr H. S. Adams) occupying the chair. Mr Adams and Mrs Don reported with reference to the recent New Zealand Alliance Conference which they had attended in Wellington. They fully explained the plans adopted for future organisation. A tone of optimism had pervaded the proceedings, and. although victory had not heen attained, the prohibitionists of New Zoaland were in good heart for t.he future. The balance sheet showed that, despite last year being a campaign year, the finances were satisfactory. The following office-bearers were elected: President, Mr C. Todd; vice-presidents—-the Rev. R. Rain, the Rev. Mr Franklyn. Messrs I). O. Cameron, ,T. B. Waters, and Jonathan Rhodes; secretary, Mr A. Aitken; assistant secretary, Mr R. D. Poison ; treasurer, Mr R. J. Niehol ; committee —Mesdames Peart and Don, the Rev W. Walker, Messrs H. S. Adams, F. E. Hilliker. J. W. Todd, A. M'lndoe. D. Scott, W. S. Maslin and W. M. Hall : representative on Wellington Executive. Mr H. S. Adiftis. It was unanimously decided to adopt the conference’s proposals regarding organisation and finance.
