12 Months Pen-to-Pen Test Showed 601 more eggs from pen of 16 pullets fed on Karswood Spice. No fairer test could have been made. Read full details in Mr. Bussey’s letter below. Wc welcome poultrykeepers to make any test they like to prove the superiority of Karswood Poultry Spice, and many of these tests have been published. We cannot recall. however, publishing a more convincing one than the letter from Mr. Bussey given below. All the birds were good stock. All were fed on good food. All were housed under ideal conditions. Yet the fact remains that, pen a-pniist pen—sisters against sisters — the birds on Karswood scored COl more eggs in the year than tho birds without Karswood, and more than half these increased oggs were laid in the autumn and winter —when eggs are fetching top prices. Head the letter and judge for yourself. Conclusive Pen-to-Pen Test. Kar»w»»jd-fed Birds win by 601 Engs. From W. J. Bussey, 7, Winchelsea Tee, Dover, Kent. I send you herewith correct egg record of two large pen 3 of White and Black Leghorns, all hen hatched. April-May. 1920, from my own stock The results have taught me a lesson. I penned off 16 White and Black Leghorn pullets on one side, and 16 White and Black Leghorn pullets on the other, double hut, double scratching shed, double open run, penned up in August 1920. »and the egg record is from October. 1920. to October. 1921. I give you the correct list of their egg yield, one lot fed with the best of food, such as Sussex ground oats, sharps, meat meal, fish meal, and pea meal, and the other lot fed on Karswood and good sharps. Tho reason I made this test was so that I could rid myself of bread and table scraps so as not to waste them, and for this pen of 16 pullets I made up 2lbs. of mash dry weight, with meat meal, or* fish meal, and drying off with sharps or Sussex ground oats, making same into e wet mssh. Then I gave them z. of corn at midday with greens hung up, and lVjofcs. of corn at night. The birds all look well, and eat well. The birds in the Karswood pen had the same grain and greens as the other pen, but It was much less trouble to make the Karswood mash, and the results speak for themselves. My birds are strong and healthy, and I praise Karswood Poultry Spice for their present condition in life. *Pcn-*o-Pen teal. 16 fß*-*ck and White Leghorns in each pen, bred from the same stork, hatched at the same time. My way of feeding averaged 130 eggs per bird. Karswood way of feeding averaged 212 eggs per bird. Total egg increase in favour of Karswood pen 601 eggs All my other stock are mash fed in Karswood Poultry Spice, and has been for the last seven years. I get good stock cockerels for breeding each year, and, considering I have no grass for my birds, I consider the result wonderful. My 1921 pullets are all valued at £1 each. As you will see, they started to lay on the 9th December. About this time I obtained one of your booklets on how to make poultry pay. I commenced at once to feed them on your Karswood Spice, and. as you will observe, their record is not too bad for backyard fowls —1,260 eggs, average 210 per bird under 12 months. I might mention I have not kept fowls previous to this, but, thanks to Karswood Poultry Spice, these birds are keeping themselves.
