A noticeable feature about the present building boom in Oamaru is tb" number of residences which are being erected in stone (says the Oamaru Mail). At the present time there are upwards of a dozen stono houses in course of construction in tho borough. Besides these there are seven business premises being erected in Thames street in stone.
There were 20 grandchildren mourners at the funetal of Mary Wright, widow, of Winthorpe, Newark. She left 58 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
R r>,dents of .Otaki have decided to erect a war memorial in memory of soldiers from Otaki. The memorial will be an obelisk oi grey Scotch granite, 14ft in height.
