The after hold was not flooded as reported, this measure being kept as a last resource, Captain Paul was 32 hours on the bridge. No seas had been shipped, the vessel being too high out of the water for that. About 7.30 p.m. on Sunday the captain gave orders to prepare the boats. for any emergency. Until the danger was over it was impossible for the crew to lie or even sit down, so badly was the vessel being tossed about.
