The Pall Mall Gazette states: “The Inland Revenue Department has proposed to Cabinet that betting on horses should be taxed by licenses to all bookmakers and the taxation of the winnings of their patrons.” independent Labour party. IiONDON, February 10. The Independent Labour Party has issued a manifesto setting out its plans to counteract the policy of inaction adopted by the Government. The manifesto denounced the French occupation of the Ruhr as a breach of international law, and advocated ending the Allied occupation of Rhineland, waiving all claims for reparations, the cancellation of all or part of the Allied debt, recognition of the Russian Government, the summoning of a world conference to co-operate with the League of Nations to reform the Versailles Treaty, and to initiate definite proposals for world disarmament.
