DISABLED SOLDIERS
WELLINGTON, February 8. . As a result of representations made by the New Zealand Returned Soldiers’ Association the Railway Department, lias granted liberal concessions to returned soldier pensioners, N.Z.E.F., w'ar pensioners—namely, men receiving a permanent war pension of £2 per week and upwards are now entitled to receive, upon application through the Returned Soldiers’ Association, free firstclass railway pass. All permanent N.Z.E.F. war pensioners receiving over 50 per cent, permanent pensions, whose disabilities affect, their locomotion, are now entitled to receive, upon application through uie Returned Soldiers’ Association, a rail permit whereby they may travel first,-class at second-class rates. Blind ex-N.Z.L.F. soldiers come under the first heading, but in addition receive tile privilege of free first-class travelling for an attendant. All these passes are for life, but are renewable every 12 months. When being used they must be supporter! by a war pensions certificate. They are only available to permanent pensioners. Any abuse of these privilegs will cause the concession to be withdrawn Item those abusing them.
