RAILWAY ACCIDENT.

WHANGAREI, February 10. Yesterday afternoon 12 trucks at the rear of a train were derailed close to Ruatangata Station, and went over the bank, being badly smashed. The guard's van was derailed, but remained upright alongside the track. The trucks were laden with coal and limestone. The couplings snapped behind the seventh truck from the engine, automatically stopping tho fore part of the train, which remained on the line. Traffic was delayed for four hours, pending repairs. Two passengers in the guard’s van escaped, except for minor injury to one.
