A LEAP TO DEATH

WELLINGTON, February 2. A tragedy occurred at 38 M’Earlane street yesterday, when Mrs Mary Elizabeth Bellhouse, wife of Rev. Harold Bellhouse, leaped from an upstairs window of her residence to the asphalt path below, a distance of about 25ft, and received such injuries that she died before medical aid could be summoned. Deceased was 56 years of ago. and resided with her husband and family. For four years past she had been mentally depressed. and had been attended by Dr Elliott, for nervous troubles. At the inquest the coroner returned a verdict that the woman died as the result ol jumping from a window while suffering front mental depression.
