ITALIAN AFFAIRS

SWEEPING RETRENCHM ENT. LONDON, January 30. The Daily Telegraph's Rome correspondent states: “ The Government has won the warm approval of the whole country for its sweeping retrenchment reforms in the administration. Signor Mussolini consulted the Liberal leaders with a view to the reassembly of Parliament on February 6, and reached a definite understanding for Liberal and Eascisti collaboration, and possibly a fusion, which would mean the most stable Government which Italy has had for many years.” ROME, February 2. Signor Mussolini proposes that the money confiscated in gambling houses will be paid to the Treasury, instead of being returned to the owners. Three Italian columns which are operating against the Arabs in Tripoli sharply engaged the enemy, who left 300 dead. The Italians lost two killed and 10 men were wounded.
