RIFLE SHOOTING
NORTH ISLAND CHAMPIONSHIP. WANGANUI, December 27. Ideal shooting weather prevailed at the Putiki rifle range to-day, when the Wanganui Rifle Association’s North Island Championship was commenced. The range was in splendid condition, and a steady, clear light and an absence of wind until the last match was being finished made the -shooting pleasant and interesting. The entries were very satisfactory, approximating 100. There were in all 22 clubs represented, riflemen coming from Napier, Wellington, New Plymouth, Hastings, Hawera, Masterton, and Waikato, as well as from clubs nearer at hand. Among well-known shots present are Rifleman D. J. Guiney (Petone), the winner of the Champion Belt last year; Rifleman A. Ballinger, an ex-New Zealand champion; A. Marett (Taranaki Rifles), R, J.
