Some blue gravel excavated at the St. Andrew street sewerage drain attracted the attention of a North Invercargill resident, who surmised from its appearance that- there was a possibility of it bearing gold, A bucket or two was taken to his home and “panned” and left quite a lot. of “colour.” Evidently there has been, or perhaps is, a 6 earn of gold in this district, but the “prospector” informs 11s that there is insufficient to work as a payable proposition.
