BLIND! Two ordinary small nips of Wood Alcohol cause Permanent Blindness Three or four cause Agonising Death Thousands of people in America to-day are blind for life as a result of taking a surreptitious “spot.” Often the bottle is labelled with a well-know brand. But its contents are wood-alcohol. And the victim does not know until too late, for the flavour does not betray the poison. In the American “Optical Journal and Review” Dr. B. O. Kinney, Survey Chairman of the California League for the Conservation of Vision, says:—“We are already positive that if the increase in the State’s blind, caused by drinking illicit booze, continues at the present rate, the number of cases will exceed those caused by industrial accidents.” Shall this Peril come to New Zealand ?
