Invercargill is to have a band co:itost early in November. A strong committee is working with ci view to making the contest a big success, and so far the promises from the various bands are very encouraging. It is the intention to have file contest in two sections one section for Pipe Bands, and the other for country Brass Bands. There will he a quickstep and •election in each section, and in addition there will be quartettes and cornet tolos. Up to the present 11 hands have signified their intention of competing, and it: is anticipated that the venture will he a very successful one. A young man, son of one of the old pioneers, had met with an accident, and was hobbling e.l>out on crutches when the dogs got on the trail of a wild pig.
