ARBITRATION COURT, WELLINGTON. August 19. Seamen's and firemen's wages and conditions on the New Zealand coastal trade were further discussed in the Arniti at ion Court to-day. Mr Kenneth MT.ean, manager of the Richardson Shipping Company, gave further evidence, stating that when lightering, and when no crew was on hoard, th© men in the stokehold got watersiders* rates. Mr Nicholson, representing the employers, stated before tlie Arbitration Court to-day that the conference held .at Napier between the Sheep Owners’ Association and the Shearers’ Union had proved abortive.
