COMMITTED FOR TRIAL.

AUCKLAND. May 3. William George Rashleigh was committed for trial on four charges of obtaining sums totalling £350 under false pretences. It was alleged that he represented he had a milk vendor business, or was—starting one, and had secured premises in various centres, and had engaged men as branch managers, requiring them to invest £IOO in the business. He pleaded not guilty. WELLINGTON. May 3. George Bowden, a young man. who said ho had arrived from Australia a few months ago, was to-day committed for trial on a charge of breaking and entering the premises of Blyth, a jeweller, at Petone., and stealing 20 rings valued at £l4O. The offences were alleged to have been committed last month. The evidence was that from what Pierre Kugener, a brother-in-law of the accused, had said, a search was made under the housej where accused was staying, when a number of rings wrapped in paper were found. Tvugener’s sister said he was not at Petone on the night when Blvth’s shop was entered and the rings stolen. Tt was stated in evidence that accused had endeavoured to dispose of the rings. Bowden strenuously denied having seen Fibber the rings or a scarf before at the Police Court.
