Adhesive postage stamps were invented by J. Chalmers, of Dundee, in 1834, and came into official use in the United Kingdom eight years later. Except by permission of the Peruvian Government, it is forbidden to disturb or export archaeological relics, instruments, mummies, of other remains of the ancient Inca and pre-Inca civilisations.
