The city engineer is convinced that the flood is not only the result of heavy rains, but certain levels have probably been dynamited for some reason not known. April 29. Telegrams from Natchez report that a bad break occurred in the Mississippi River levee at Ferridav, Louisiana. Hie water is sweeping over the villages and plantations, inundating large areas. Ten thousand people have abandoned their homes

It is reported that during the Easter b'd'days deer stalkers in the Wanganui district secured two 15-pointers, a 14-pointer, and a 12-pointer stag. An eight-pointer white stag has been seen running in the country at the back of the Lismore estate. Several sportsmen are very keen on securing this rarity. Some years ago an eightpointer white stag was shot by Oolonel Munroc.
