A CANTERBURY RUN

UNSOLD AT AUCTION. CHRISTCHURCH, April 22. Messrs Dalgety and Co. this morning submitted the well-known St. James station to auction on behalf of Mr C. H. Ensor. The property comprises 4000 acres of freehold land and 199,000 acres of Crown leasehold, with 20 years to run at a yearly rental of £675. The property was submitted on a “walk in walk out” principle, with 13,000 sheep, 850 head of cattle, and 200 horses. The stock figures were not guaranteed. The freehold was subject to a mortgage of £9OOO at per cent. The auctioneer asked for a starting bid of £29,000. but there was no response, and the station was withdrawn.
