WELLINGTON NOTES.
(From Oob Own Correspondent.? April 29. Mr A. E. "Whyte, who witnessed three days’ racing at Randwick, informs y-our correspondent that he considers Beauford would have beaten Gloaming in the two races he won at Sydney had the New Zealand champion been sent across. . The Hawke s Bay Cup winner, Dissertation, has raced consistently in the hack class this season. Angelo beat her at ’Trentham, and the latter went on to Ricearton to win a double. None of the Trentham stables was represented at Hastings, but A. Goodman went through to confer with one of his Gisborne pa trons. The nine yearlings sent across to the Sydney sales from the Waikanae stud averaged 370gns, which must be considered quite satisfactory these times. Several of the local stables are represented at the Blenheim meeting. Messrs J, J. Corry, W. R. Ken,’.;all, and W. Higgins have helped to swell the nomination lists. C*. Stephens, who came across from Melbourne to ride for a local stable, is re turn!!|g by- the Uiimaroa. Although he has been racing four seasons Gloaming only made his first appearance at Hastings this week. He looks hke fceatmg Carbines winning record recently passed by Eurythmic, It. is a pity Farceur UP to meet Rapine so as to settle definitely which is the best two-rear-oia or tne season.
