CRIME IN AUCKLAND.

AUCKLAND, March 20. Thomas Doolan, c r :*■ ( i 36, was committed for sentence on two charges of obtaining sums of £SO by false pretences. The money was lent on representation that accused had funds in the bank. Catherine Angus, aged 33, admitted a charge of bigamous marriage. The evidence Showed that accused was married at Petone in December, 1909, and recently went through the form of marriage at Whangarei stating that she was a widow. In a statement accused said her husband deserted her and went, to the war. As she heard not hit-, of him she presumed he was dead. After •remarriage she left her second husband and then met Angus, who said it was hi.s fault sho believed him to be dead, as he had changed his name. She was committed for sentence.
