THE COSY CORNER CLUB.
19™ SESSION. In accordance with the wishes expressed by several members. I am publishing the 6yllabus for next year’s Cosy Corner Ciub in ample time for members to think over the subjects. The exact dates of meetings will be given in due course. May.—Members' Meeting. Members are invited to select their own topic. If preferred, interesting selections from prose or verse may be given instead of an original composition. June.—“ Pleasant Ilolftlay Memories.” Contributors may have much to say of their Christmas holidays. A lively description of a single interesting holiday excursion would be acceptable, and to most people the summer brings at least one such. But an account of any enjoyable holiday, long or short, may be given. Alternative topic; “Economies for Hard Times.” July.—“ Gardens and Gardening.” Alternative subject: “Poultry-keeping.” I think gardening is always a popular subject, i Those who have no practical knowledge of gardening may have much to say on the delights offered by gardens and the flowers they contain. Poultry-keeping is a matter of practical interest to very many householders, both in country and town. I am thinking of ordinary domestic poultry-keeping rather than of poultry-keeping as a business. A good many contributors may be able to give hints from their own experience that will be helpful to others. August.—“ls the Kinemn Show Beneficial ?" This subject may be taken as a debate—fflr and against picture shows. But members supporting the kinema are asKod to make it clear whether what they eay refers to picture shows as they exist in New Zealand or to what they might be under ..deal management. It would be preferable to keep to experience. Hardly anyone will dispute that the kinema may be a means of intellectual and moral education and wholesome pleasure. September.—“On Mothers.” Contributors are invited to give their thoughts on the responsibilities and privileges of mothers, &r.d their power to influence the future of the world. Or a brief outline of some notable mother may be given, or a fine selection m prose- or verse. October. —Discussion meeting, as iu previous years.
