AMATEUR, ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION. monthly meeting of the executive 'f 16 Otago Centre, New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association, was held last evening at the YM.C.A, Mr W. Strong (vice-pre-sident) being’ in the chair. The Secretary stated that Mr W. Dawson had forwarded him a donation of £lO towards the centre’s funds, and that he had written to Mr Dawson thanking him for the contribution. The List Banner having been destroyed m . a fire at South Dunedin, a committee consisting of Messrs List, Bennett, and Clark was set up to report to the next meeting whether the banner should be replaced by a shield, and as to the finding of funds, apart from the insurance money, towards replacing the banner. The following letter was read from the manager of the Springbok athletic team, written on the eve of their departure for Australia: “Sir, —Before leaving New Zealand I take this opportunity of thanking you on behalf of my team for the very courteous manner jn which the whole of the team was treated during their stay in Dunedin. Everything possible was done for our comfort and entertainment, and we appreciate your efforts very much. I would like to thank you for the very fine report from the committee sent to the head council regarding the team’s behaviour. That report is very much liked. I can only soy our team had a great time, and are taking back very pleasant memories of Dunedin. — Ira G. Emery.” A letter was read from the secretary of the Caledonian Society regarding the cinder track and the grounds, and a committee consisting of Messrs Mercer, Stark, List, and Sanderson was set up to consider how this track could be made a satisfactory one, and to confer wth the Caledonian Society. The Secretary reported that at, the last meeting of the executive the members had discussed th reason why permission had not been granted the centre to hold a New Zealand championship meeting at the time of the South Africans’ visit, when the Auckland Centre had had two championships on its programme. He had received word from the New Zealand Council that no New Zealand championships had been held at Auckland, and that the report was erroneous. Seven applications for reinstatement were received-—six from Otago Central and one from Invercargill, and they were favourably recommended to the New Zealand Council. One was specially reported for careful consideration. It was decided that permission should bo granted to the Alexandra South Club to hold a meeting; also to the Omakau and Clyde Clubs on receipt of the applications. ANGLICAN HARRIER CLUB. Mr P. AY.
