The monthly meeting of the committee ‘■of the Otago A. and P. Society was held on Thursday, and attended by Messrs Edgar C Hazlatt (president, in the chair), R. A. S. Cantrell, James Birtles, James Ross, James Glow, G. H. MacEwaa, 11. Turner, T. Boott, J. W. Blair, J. Ma can drew, W. Turnbull, J. Nimmo, R. A. Ewing, H. C. Campbell, E. F. Duthie, T. J. Gawn, A. Johnson, T. T. Ritchie. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs Vv. O. M'Kellar, G. R. Ritchie, G. Black, W. Gardiner, H. Price, J. Begg, A. Fleming, H. Driver, F. Freeman, and J. F. Herbert. Tho Grounds Committee reported on improvements proposed to be carried out at Tabuna Park.—On the motion of Mr R. A. Ewing, seconded by Mr 11. C. Campbell, tho report was approved. On the motion of Mr E. F. Duthie, seconded by Mr R. A. Ewing, the Finance Committee’s report was approved and accounts amounting to £77 8s 6d were passed for payment. The Chairman reported on the meeting that he had called in response to a request from the Minister of Agriculture for the purpose of considering the general pooling scheme for the handling of and dealing with the frozen meat trade.—The president’s action was approved. Professor Wing, of Cornell University, New York State, wrote thanking the society for the courtesy and hospitality extended to him on his visit. Mr A. Chamberlain, of Christchurch, wrote expressing thanks for tho consideration shown him at the time of the show, and he enclosed a donation to the funds. The committee spent eorne time in compiling a list of Otago men competent to act as judges of cattle, sheep, and horses, such list being asked for by the Council of Agriculture, which is the federating body in New Zealand. It was resolved that the factory cheese and fruit sections of tho Winter Show be revised by the respective sub-committees, and that advance lists be sent cut at an early date. It was resolved . that the ram and ewe fair be held on Tuesday, March 28, as suggested by the Dunedin stock agents. Mr E. Jack, secretary of the New Zealand Council of Agriculture, advised that the Amusement Bill, which had passed all stages, applied to agricultural societies.—lt was decided that the secretary should he commuuicated with in connection with the matter. Messrs Towan Bros. (Cromwell) and Mr R. B. Tennent were elected members of the society. On tho motion of the President, the following resolution was carried:—“That the members of this society wish to express their sincere sympathy with Mr H. V. Fulton in his recent ead bereavement.”
