CRIME IN AUCKLAND.
AUCKLAND. August 15. At the Police ( ourt a Maori named Matina Taare admitted a charge of false pretences, .'censed had £BB Is due from the Waikato-Maniapoto Maori Land Board, and when drawing it represented that he was also Encra Taare (bis ' brother . and obtained £22 5s Bd. lie was committed for sentence. William Knox and Marlin Gweistad denied an assault wi!h intent to rob. ('oinplaiuant staled lisat he had been drinking with the accused, and when leaving a hotel in the evening he was knocked down. Both accused were committed for trial. Cowerstad was fined 10s for failing 1o notify his change of address, he being an alien.
