A FAMILY BIBLE.
TAKEN* FROM SOUTH AFRICA. AUCKLAND. August 21. The restoration of a family Bible which had been taken from South Africa during the war was a unique incident, occurring during a function held at. the Slav Hotel when the South African veterans of Auckland made a presentation to the Springboks. One of the veterans present, a member of tho Seventh New Zealand t>.u tie gent, on returning from the war brought wi;h him to New Zealand a Bible which had been taken from a Beer farm. He bad \ .died about considerably since that time, and had carried it with him all ihe time. Kj s wife bad a superstitious feeling that had luck would pursue him until it was relumed to its righifnl owner. Tt. was consequently handed over to Mr Olivier-, and now after over 20 years’ wandering is well on the wav to being restored to its original owners.
