TWO UNUPTTAT, OASES. TIM.vRU, August. 9. An inquest was held at Temuka yesterday into the death of the infant son, one month old, of native parents, named Riekus. The mother and another Maori woman wore wheeling prams on one side of the main road, which was newly shingled in the middle. A car driven by a farmer’s wife, Mrs S. Connolly, came along behind iheru. One mother turned out of tho track to the right, and Mrs Riekus turned into the shingle. _ The ear also turned that way, ami before it stopped it struck the pram broadside and threw the infant into the shingle, death following shortly after from concussion of the brain. The coroner’s finding recounted the facts, and added as a rider that motor car drivers should be In' nod on proof of ability to drive. Another inquest, was held at ' Temuka to-dav into tho death of a rabbiter. M( dical evidence was given to tho effect that in mixing strychnine poison once a week, without precautions, deceased had absorbed enough in small doses to result in death. A verdict- v, as ret urned to this effect. __________
