TO NORTH POLE BY AIR.
AN AMBITIOUS AMERICAN. WASHINGTON, August 1. Mr Edwin Xanity, American Meteorologi t, has announced that he will make a flight across the Arctic Ocean to the North Pole, thence to Spit/.Bergen, to the North Cape in Norway. A start will bo made from Point Barrow, Alaska, in September. and stop will brocade at- the Lola for observation purposes. One airplane will be used, and there will be tiireo pilots besides himself. Mr Naultv declares that the adventure is not an incentive. but lie hopes to accomplish certain scientific® results and to study tha Arctic air currents and magnetic variation and inclination. The machine will be equipped with wireless for communication with civilisation.
