INVESTITURE
A GOVERNMENT HOUSE FUNCTION. WELLINGTON, July 13. I The Governor-General (Viscount Jellicoe) held an investiture at Government House j to-night, at which he presented badges • of Orders and Decorations awarded by His j Majesty the King. The ceremony opened with the presentation to Sir George llunter, M.P., of the Letters Patent of Knighthood. 1 The Order of Companion of the Bath was conferred on Lieutenant-colonel H. E. Hart, Wellington Regiment, The Distinguished Service Order was conferred on Lieutenant-colonel R. S. M’Quarrie, N.Z.F.A. ; Major A. S. Wilder, M.(A, Wellington Mounted Rules. The Bar to the Military Cross was conferred oti Major J. G. Coates, Minister of Public Works, who was also decorated with the Military Cross won by him in the field. The Military Cross was conferred on 22 officers. Civil orders were conferred on two leci pie nits of the Order of the British Empire. Three next-of-kin received the Military ('loss. They were: Mr A. Craven, of Blenheim, father of Second-lieutenant A. Craven. Mrs A. S. Baxter (Wellington), widow of Lieutenant E. Baxter. Mr .J. MacMillan (W ellington), father of Second lieutenant D. G. MacMillan.
