The treatment consists in applying the following ointment—viz., iodide potasium ldr, lard 7dr; mixdaily till the swelling disappears, and in giving cod liver oil, a teaspoonful daily for a month or two; or iodide of potassium, in doses of 2gr in water; and in addition a does of chemical food three times a day. "Puzzled.” —The trouble may be attributed to general weakness. After the pups have had a feed, remove them for a couple of hours, so that the bitch may have a spell, and see that she has plenty of nourishing food. When she has finished nursing the pups treat her for worms. Mrs Carmalt .Jones, of Roslyn, has bought a wire-haired bitch bred from Douglas Reid (Eidedslie). This bitch is bv Brinsen Boy ex Pamela ; Pamela by < !assington Bristles ex Misery. Brise'n Boy is by ch. Wycollar Boy ex‘Brownhill Lady. Mr .T. W. Williams’s (Caversham) linglish setter bitch secured several second prizes at Wellington show under Mr (Tabtree. This fancier lias disposed of all his puppies, with the exception of a pair, which he has reserved for the Christchurch show. 1 hear that Messrs Scolnn am! James’s fox terrier puppies from his Australian-bred bite'u are now weaned and doing well. Mr Scolan reports that lie is very pleased with their progress. I learn that Mr D. 11. Reid and Mr Br.mford, of Klderslie, are purchasing a first-class wire-haired fox terrier bitch, which they are mating to Brinsen Boy (imp.). —Mr Winders, of Dunedin, lias purchased from Mr Doe, of Rabymere Kennels, Invercargill. the young Irish terrier bitch Rabymere Garry Clare. This bitch, although only four and a-half months old, won four seconds at Ashburton under Mr Kyle, and six seconds at Dunedin Fanciers’ Championship Show under Mr S. Crabtree, and nis new owner is well pleased with his purchase. —At the Ashburton show Mr Doe secured seven firsts, one special, and four seconds, and at the Dunedin Fanciers’ Club Championship Show nine lir-ts. two specials, one championship and six seconds. —M r I )oe informs mo that his kennels are now completed, and are built on up-to-date style to accommodate 20 doas. They consist of se\en compartments in ai! ; length 30ft by sft; a run 30ft by 12fr. all brick floor, surrounded by fancy gates and grids, and a lawn 20ft by 30ft. The Australian British Bulldog Club has everything well in hand for the championship show, which is to be judged by the well-known English breeder. 5.1 r Sam Crabtree. The dates of the fixture are August 12 and 13. Over 50 special prizes and trophies will be offered, and if is expected that there will bo competition from till Slates of the Commonwealth.
