The Department of Industries and Commerce is inviting suggestions for the improvement of t-lie Patents Act’, which it is proposed to amend next session (stales Ihe Auckland Star). When the matter came before the Auckland Chamber of Commerce recently. Mr J. Burns remarked that under the present Act letters patent were issued fur any mortal tiling, with the result that the law offered no assistance or protection to the inventor, who had to fight his own flattie for the patent. Mr J. C. Allum agreed that the New Zealand patent law was considered a “joke.”
