FISH PRICES.
In connection with the Prices Investigation Tribunal report on fish prices, we learn from Mr David Leslie that a company was promoted about two years ago, and lias since been registered as The Deep Sea Fiesh Fish Co. (Ltd.) It was promoted on the assurance from the Government by legislation passed three years ago authorising loans to bona fide private enterprises which would undertake the erection of cooling plants for dealing with fish. The company lias leased a suitable piece of land at Port Chalmers, and also had full plans prepared for suitable buildings, and has made application to the Government for the authorised loan, hut so far has not received it. r l he company is quite prepared t o go straight ahead so soon as it: gets u favourable reply from the Government. The fishermen have the opportunity of taking an interest in this company, and it is believed that several of them will do so directly the company is enabled to go ahead with the work, as the fishermen realise with a cooler they would get a regular price for all their catch, and the public would also be assured of regular supplies of fresh fish.
