FIRES IN AUCKLAND
THREE SEPARATE OUTBREAKS. ACL'KLAND, June 26. A fire yesterday afternoon damaged 'the warehouse occupied by the Bane -linking Machine Company and Messrs Caro Bros., fancy goods ana cniiia importers, in Vvyiuiham street. The goods in the top floor, occupied by Messrs Caro Bros., were destroyed, while on the first floor, also occupied by the same firm, much damage was caused by water. Gane Company’s stock was ou tire ground floor and was damaged somewhat by water. The damage to the building was confined to the top storey and roof. The building was owned by the Gane Company, and was insured for £7500 in tile Victoria office, an otter 10 purchase it at £21,000 being refused recently. Gane’s stock is valued at £15,000, and is insured for £3OOO in the Victoria office. Caro’s is I insured, but the’ amount, is not available. ! Damage estimated at £IOOO was caused ; by a fire in the National Electrical Enj gmeering Company’s premises lust night, a 1 portion of the workshop being destroyed to- . gether with its contents. The stock was j insured for £28,000 in the National/ office. I A fire which took place at noon to-duv damaged an 11-roomed house in Parnell, owned by the Colonial Motor Company, and occupied by the manager. The fire started in the kitchen, and all but three rooms were burned.
The Greymouth Star says: There is already evidence that next season on the Coast will see an advance in the dairying industry. Numbers of farmers in the Grey Valley who have not been dairying before have decided to go into this line. Others intend increasing their herds.
