PEKINE GASWORKS DISPUTE

In the St.atfmvA (Taranaki) district this year 15,000 calves were inoculated as a pro caution against blackleg, a disease that is unknown in the South Island. Of these 75 per cent, were heifers, and of the heifers
75 per cent. Jerseys or well into the breed. Inoculation is done free by the Government. As there are 60,000 dairy cows in the nisi riot-, the natural increase should bn 60,000 calves a year.
