ROMNEY BREEDERS

ANNUAL REPORT OF ASSOCIATION. The annual report of the New Zealand Romney Marsh Sheep Breeders' Association j congratulates members on the steady pro- ! gross of the association. The income for the ! "twelve months exceeded the expenditure I by- £lO6 15s Bd, the amount of the eccurmt- ! lated funds at December 31 last being £1720 Ss 3d. The total number of members is now 607, while Volume XVII will contain 591 registered flocks. The council has had to deal with a large number of reports on inspections made during the period under review, and places on record its best thanks and appreciation of the splendid work car- | ried out by the inspectors, who have sometimes been compelled to travel Jong distances at often very short notice, to enable sheep sold to be examined and tattooed before leaving the property of the vendors. The council has had the _question of publishing a booklet on New Zealand Romney sheep before it during the year, and a sub-commit-tee was set up for the purpose of compiling the matter. This work ia now completed, and it is hoped to publish the brochure during the coming year. The annual awards of tho association were competed for at the following shows:—North Island Championship Shields: Hawke’s Bay A. and P. Society. South Island Championship Shields: Southland A. end P. Association. Wheeler Memorial Shield: Masierton A. and P. Associa‘ion. The attention of members is drawn to th e amount of £2Ol 163 8d in the balance riioet, being outstanding subscriptions and f,’„t December 31, 1920. In accordance with the rules of the association, the followin'' members of the council retire by rotai = on-"-Meor.ra G. E. Allen. W. Bell, J. Knight, P. Mungavin, and R.
