CHARGE OF MURDER.

ROTORUA, April 4. Hakaraia Te Kahu, the companion of Patrick Richard Elliott when the latter ■went on a shooting expedition whence he has not returned, was arrested to-day and brought to Rotorua. In the afternoon he was charged before Mr W. G. Kenrick, S.M.. with the murder of Elliott on or about March 27. No evidence was offered. The accused was remanded for eight days on the application of Detective Sweeney. Hakaraia is a sturdy Maori of middle height, his countenance expressing boldness and determination.
