SOUTH OTAGO HOSPITAL BOARD. The firet meeting of the newly constituted South Otago Hospital Board was held in the Clutha County Chambers, Balclutha, on the Ist, when the following representatives were present:—Messrs A. S. Malcolm, M.P., Joseph Mosley, A. North, and James Gumming (Clutha County), H. M. Driver, Jasper Clark, apd W. A. Blair (Bruce County), A. Rennie '(Milton), and James Rutherford (Kaitangata). An apology was received for the absence of Mr 11. Simson (Balclutha.). JThe chair was taken by Mr A. M‘Donald (secretary of the late Hospital Separation Committee), and after formal business Mr A. North was unanimously elected chairman of the board. A solacommittee was set up to draft a schedule of duties for the position of secretary and gather other information from similar bodies. Mr A. M'Donakl agreed to act as secretary meanwhile. The board then went, into committee regarding financial matters and the disposal of patients until suitable local arrangements were effected. It was resolved that the offer of the Otago Board relative to terms on which they would accept patients from South Otago be not entertained, and it was decided to make inquiries from other public as well as private hospitals in Otago end Southland as to the terms on which they would receive patients until the South Otago Board was able to provide for its own patients in its own hospitals.
