TAIERI RIVER TRUST

ELECTION OF COMMISSIONERS. * A Considerable interest was taken in the election of commissioners for the recentlycreated Taieri River Trust, which took place on the Ist. The keenness of the contest may be evidenced from the _ fact that* in the Snow subdivision every available vote was cast, the result being the defeat of Me James Miller, chairman of the now defunct ; Taieri Drainage Board. In the Lakes sub- ! division Mr W. J. Marshall, late member 1 of the Drainage Board, defeated a brother member in Air W. G. Reid. The result of the election is as follows: — SNOW SUBDIVISION. George At'Leoel 24 James Miller I/EE CHEEK SUBDIVISION. John Matheson 22 Alexander Peter Fleming ... 15 LAKES SUBDIVISION. William John Marshall 50 William Garden Reid ... 19 Messrs M‘Leod. Matheson, and Marshall wero declared duly elected. Messrs N. T. Reid and Donald Ford were previously elected unopposed, and these five gentlemen, together with three to be nominated by tha Government, will form the new trust.
