FORESTERS’ ROLL OF HONOUR.
In St. Mary’s Hall at Mornington on the Ist inst. a roll of honour was unveiled commemorating the names of all those membeis of Court Excelsior, A.0.F., who had gone abroad to serve in the war. The roll of honour itself consisted of an oak tablet having upon it the names of the soldiers clearly printed in gilt lettering. The ceremony of unveiling the tablet was performed by D.C.R. Bro. C. Robertson, who stated that its purpose was to commemorate for all time the names of those men who had served their King and country in the great war. Court Excelsior, out of a total membership of 189, had sent no fewer than 46 of its members to the front, or very nearly 25 per cent., and out of that number 10 had laid down their lives. That was a record of which it might well be proud.— .—(Applause.) In the whole district, which had a membership of 32C0, the number who had gone on active service was 989, or roughly one-third of the membership, and of these 161 had been killed. When it was remembered that a very large proportion of their members were over military age, it could he seen that the record was a very creditable one indeed. —(Applause.) Bro. W. 11. Reay briefly replied on behalf or the returned soldiers.
