AWARD WAGES.

WELLINGTON, March 2. In tho Magistrate’s Oourt to-day reserved judgment was delivered in the case heat'd last week in which the Inspector of Awards proceeded against tho Harbour Board in i connection with an alleged breach of award | concerning the payment of award wages to | seven men. In regard to five of these men it was pointed out that they were only casually employed connecting up cluster lights to ships’ holds, a work requiring no practical knowledge of electricity. The case in so far as these men were concerned was dismissed. Concerning the other two men, permanent employees of the board, the magistrate considered that, from the nature of the work they had been employed on, a breach of the award had been committed, and he imposed a penalty on the board of £2.
