FURTHER CHARGES AT AUCKLAND*. AUCKLAND, March 1* The eight of a man named Michael Devitt and a motor car standing at Shortland street aroused the suspicions of deteotive3. As a result the men in charge and the motor car were examined. The examination was followed by the arrest o£ Cornelius Devitt, charged with illicit bookmaking. The detective subsequentlyvisited a fruit shop in Symonds street and arrested an employee name Charles Law*son. A ring on the telephone was replied to by the detectives, who received what'-, was taken to he obviously a betting proposal. In the Police Court Lawson, charged ysdil*. 'carrying on the business of a pleaded guilty, and was fined £2OO, in default six months' imprisonment. Devitt elected to go to the Supreme Court fmr trial, and was remanded on bail for on® ‘ week. t
