ANNUAL MEETING CONTINUED. NAPIER, February 24. The annual meeting of members of the New Zealand Institute of Architects was continued to-day, Mr .J, L. Salmoiid (president) being in the chair. With reference to the scale of charges, it v.-as resolved : —(1) That in future the li per cent. hitherto charged alternatively to builders or the employer (as may be arranged) be now charged direct (and only) to the employer; (2) that the scale of charges be referred to a special committee to revise in accordance with resolution. On the recommendation of the Finance Committee it was decided that in future the fee for the intermediate examination be. £3 3s. and the final examination £4 4s. A number of formal matters were dealt with, and a lengthy presidential address was delivered to-night. The local branch entertained the delegates at a smoke concert. February 25. The conference of architects was concluded to-day, when the first meeting of the new council was held. The officers elected were as follow: President, Mr C. R. Ford (Wanganui); hon. secretary, Mr G. Young (Wellington) ; hon. treasurer, Mr W. Feilding (Wellington). Various committees were also appointed. It was decided to refer the question of revising the educational syllabus to a committee on education. The following were appointed a special committee to report to the branches on the question of the revision of the conditions of contract:—The president and Messrs Crichton, Swan, Chatfield, Munnings, and Page. It was resolved that the next annual meeting be held at Wanganui.
