She has just tnissed landing a stake on several occasions this season. Gapsal won tha Steeplechase each day »t the Thames meeting very easily. The aon. of Captain ought to win a good race .over the big fences during the winter. Oorojlen was a starter on the opening day at the Thames, hut /ailed to get round. Awareka was unhioky in not picking up a stake at the Thames. She is a good beginner, but sir furlong 3 is about as far •3 she cares to go. Infante is staying on tetter. She never let the field near her on the second day at the Thames, running the six furlongs in

Sea Deal is improving over hurdles. He won comfortably on the opening day at the Thames, and beat all but Shell fetrook on the second day. Shell Shock is proving a paying proposition over the small sticks. She is a bit above the ordinary. The weights for the A.R.C. Easter Handicap made their appearance on the Ist inst. Maioha and Statuette figure at the head of the list with 9.0. Both showed good form at Ellerslie in the summer, the former winning the three races he contested, and Statuette scored an easy victory in the Railway Handicap. Silver Link i 3 nicely placed with 8.10. A race extending to eight furlongs should not be beyond her. The three-year-olds Duo 8.7, Humbug 8.6, and Gasbag 8.5 will command a lot of attention. Probably Gasbag will prove the best of the three. Royal Abbey 8.2, Landslide 7.10, and Early Dawn 7.7 have shown good form lately, while lower down the list Esthonia 7.2 and Geoffrey 6.13 read well. At the A.R.C. Summer Meeting, Estlionia won a mile in 1.38, a time that has not yet been equalled in an Easter Handicap. A good field is engaged in the Brighton Hurdles. Thrace, Slowcoach, and Signature are the most likely among the local division. At the recent Melbourne sales, Mr A. E. Tattley, the owner' of Glen Canny, secured a yearling full brother to that horse for 350 gs. At the same sale Mr Alison purchased a colt by Bright Steel—Liane for 160 gs. Mr Ali3on has been very successful with his Australian purchases. RACING IN NEW ZEALAND. GORE RACES. First Day.—Wednesday, March 2.
