Constant Reader asks: (1) Does the rocent amendment to the Shops and Offices Act apply to all parte of Now Zealand where working hours per week are fixed at 48 hours instead of 62 hours ?- Answer.—The Act docs not apply to any shop assistant while engaged in delivering goods at the residence of any person situate four miles or upwards from the ehop and not being within three miles of any borough or town district, or within an area in which an award of the Court of Arbitration is in force relating to the trade of the occupier, or while engaged in receiving produce or other commodity from such person. (2) Is there a compulsory half holiday in each week irrespective of whether there is a general holiday in such week?- Answer. —No. (3) Is wool classing taught at Dunedin Technical School? Answer.—Yes. Inquirer.—You will require to conform to the terms of your lease. If the lease provides for compensation you should make the necessary claim. W. H.—You should accept the offer made to you by the Government Department. Puzzled.—A should claim a refund from B of the amount paid by him. Interested.—The assistants will require to keep to the terms of the award. Legal asks: (1) Is an agreement drawn up by a land agent bearing signature of vendor and purchaser, but not stamped, binding on tlie parties? (2) What is the stamp duty required ? (3) Does the purchaser obtain delivery of his title deeds on paying down a deposit ?——-Answers.—(l) Yes, if stamped with proper stamp duty. (2) Stamp duty is at the rate of 10s for every £SO of the purchase money. (3) The purchaser will require to pay the full purchase money before obtaining his title deeds.
