DUNEDIN STOCKING LEAGUE
The op-ening meeting for the work of the incoming year of the Dominion Stocking League was held on the 22nd ult. at the Hanover Street,Church Hall, when there was a large attendance and evidence of that enthusiasm that has made the league one of the most prominent working philanthropic organisations in th<\city. The president, Mrs J. 11. M’La-ren, was in the chair. The executive was elected as follows: President, Mrs M'Laren; vioe-president, Mrs J. J. Clark; hon. secretary and treasurer, Miss Mirams; committee —Mrs Scott (convener), Miss Reid, Miss Worthington, Mrs Valentino, Mrs Romerill, Miss M. Wither. Mis Clark (vice-president) addressed the meeting on the work of ‘ the league, and paid a warm tribute to the president, Mrs J- H. M'Laren, who, by her unbounded enthusiasm, splendid organising ability, and large sympathy, had enabled the league to carry on its work. On behalf of her coworkers she presented Mrs M'Laren with a beautiful leather travelling! cushion, and expressed the hope that her trip to England would be most beneficial and pleasant, and that the gift would remind her of the loyal hearts and loving wishes that went with her on her journey.—(Applause.)
