WAIHEMO COUNTY COUNCIL

. The monthly meeting of the Wailiemo County Council was attended on Saturday by Crs O’Connell (acting chairman), O’Neill, Clark, Cambridge, Ritchie, Alurray, and Ross. The Officer in Charge, Dunedin Valuation Department, wrote that the Valuer-general regretted that he did not think it desirable for Mr Atkinson to act in the land dispute with Mr Currie. —Received. The Secretary, Otago Hospital Board, advised that the council’s inquiry as to the erection of a cottage hospital, with maternity ward attached, had been referred to tho Finance Committee for a report. —ReThe inspector reported on the work done during the month and the work in hand. Air D. Robertson’s lender of 2s 9d for carting metal at Stoneburn was accepted. Air D. Walker (Palmerston) was appo ntorl ranger and Air J. Stewart dog tax collector. Seven applications were received for the position. Air M’Williams was reappointed mining valuer. The inspector was authorised to procure Logan’s Point metal for the Goodwood Settlement road, and to arrange for the carting. Authority- for £B7 is to be expended on the work. The council appointed Wednesday as the county half-holiday.
